Custom applications for Slack and Confluence (an Atlassian product) were needed to be built to ensure routine tasks performed by cross-functional teams are automated.

The Challenge —

To automate routine tasks and save time, energy and induce greater efficiency in the functioning of the team.

The Solution —

Our team built custom applications using the relevant SDKs (Slack App API, Atlassian Forge) as the problem statements were progressively identified. We built a custom analytics engine to track usage of these applications and identify areas of improvement, and ensure compliance.

Slack Applications:

  • For keeping a pulse of the team morale
  • For running daily standup/EOD reports
  • For automated deployments of products in staging environment
  • For notifications to be sent to users of a product

Confluence Application:

  • For exporting CMS items (such as Blogs etc) from Confluence to WebFlow

This led to the automation of critical routine tasks for the Engineering, Human Resources and Marketing Teams which saved critical time and resources.

Impact —

AppDesk saved more than 1800 person-hours across 2022 using these automations.

The Confluence app was also featured in the Project Gallery of CodeGeist 2022, Atlassian’s annual Hackathon, reaching the top 140 submissions out of more than 3600 submissions from across the globe.
